I was obsessed with pressing the elevator button when I was a kid. Something about the design of objects makes us do certain things and think a certain way while they operate in the background, behind functions in the everyday.
Dylan is interested in taking objects from the functional context in daily routines, observing their remaining identities to us, and establishing a new network where they come together in forms derived from alternative affordances. His sculptures invoke an impulse rooted in habits, to dance with routine objects on their terms.
